Caracas, February 17, 2023 (Press Mincomunas)-. The People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, urged “not to lose this moment, not to slacken the reins” in the consolidation of the productive economic circuits of communal organizations.
At the closing of the day of continuity of agreements of the 1st National Meeting of Communal Economy, carried out by the end of 2022, Arreaza expressed that, in honor of the great Simon Rodriguez, this is the moment to invent, since there is a clear tendency on how to do it, based on the permanent assembly discussion on this subject and the Communal project bequeathed by Commander Hugo Chavez.
During the meeting at the headquarters of the communal office in Caracas, there were four work tables: Communal Economy Law, Communal Banking, Communication and Commercialization, and Training and Indicators.

At the closing of the day of continuity of agreements of the 1st National Meeting of Communal Economy, carriedmphasized how the communal economic circuits re-connect with Chavez’ Communal project and the hope he meant for the people as the energy of the Bolivarian Revolution. He also referred to the importance of the family because the circuit begins and ends in the family as the fundamental nucleus.
Arreaza also urged to continue discussing complex issues such as property, commercialization, and transportation, where there is a weakness with the intermediaries of the capitalist model, as opposed to the economic model for the life of the Communes. He considered it fundamental to have measurement indicators and encouraged us to move forward in the five pilot projects of communal banking. These projects would have the support of the Bicentenary Bank.
Regarding the issue of communication in the work ecosystem, he oriented to do so with the advantages offered by the Sinco system of the Federal Council of Government.

Oscar Vasquez, communicational advisor of the Ministry for Communes and member of the Utopix collective, indicated that around 45 spokespersons of the circuits and special economic zones participated in the four work tables throughout 2022 to continue deepening the Communal economy policy of the country.
Luis Ribas, a representative of the corn circuit of the state of Barinas and economy spokesman of the Flor de Nuestra Patria Commune, and of the Productive Management Unit of the communal indirect social property company Leander, mentioned his participation in table 4 Communication and commercialization. He pointed out that the productive strengths have to translate into direct sales to the people through communal markets and fairs.
From Anaco municipality, Anzoategui state, where a communal economic zone involving about 10 Communal Councils is currently in the creation process, Oliver Rojas considered relevant the meeting to contribute ideas and experiences in the debate on the Communal Economic System laws adjusted to the reality of the territory.
Geraldine Calatrava, a representative of the Pueblo a Pueblo organization in the Anaco municipality, indicated that she participated in the communal banking table and stated that with the Communal banking, the People’s Power organized would be able to level up from the administrative and financial point of view, since the bank will not only allow generating financing channels for producers and entrepreneurs in the territory but also the possibility of integrating them to the financial system and that they will have at hand the necessary tools to continue advancing in each one of their projects.
Gerardo Ribas, a spokesman of the Paso de Bolivar 1813 Commune in Merida State and representative of the communal potato circuit, emphasized that the meeting is fundamental to move forward, to take firm steps towards the new Communal economy: “We must meet periodically to evaluate the steps we are taking. We are the organized, conscious people, trained for this, built from the grassroots”.
The 1st National Meeting of Communal Economy took place at the Venezuelan School of Planning, in Caracas, from December 8 to 10, 2022.
