The Ceiba Orinoquia Commune promotes communal self-government in the municipality of Caroní

Bolivar, September 9, 2022 (Press MinComunas) – On Friday, in the municipality of Caroni, Bolivar state, spokespersons of the Eje Ceiba Orinoquia Commune held an assembly with the People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza. They presented their potentialities and promoted communal self-government.

During this meeting, spokesman Simon Rincon explained that they made a peri-urban Commune with 13 geographical axes and around 35,000 hectares for production, which benefits more than 9,000 families.

“We want to boost the productive activity in our communities again since we have great potential in agriculture, livestock, sowing, breeding, tourism, and handicrafts fields. Likewise, we are trying with SIDOR’s friends to leverage the reactivation of the mechanization units to promote productive activity with the community members and farmers”, she said.

Similarly, community leader Mely Blanco added that they want to coordinate with different institutions, especially SIDOR, to preserve their lands. “We want to join forces to activate our production even more,” she added.

In this regard, the spokesperson Jenny Rodriguez expressed their desire to rescue the community blockhouse and to re-launch the economic activity hand in hand with the State authorities.

David Uga, a representative of SIDOR, pointed out that to develop the potentialities of the commune, and follow the guidelines of President Maduro. CVG will work for the point and circle initially with the Unare parish to promote the productive apparatus of the territory.

“We are committed to the Communal Worker Plan. We are going to repair equipment and supply inputs so that the Communes can continue working these lands,” he asserted.

For his part, the People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, remarked how important it is for the People’s Power to advance and exercise communal self-government to provide a response to local needs.

“To exercise Communal self-government requires a lot of organization and a lot of support from the State, so for what we do to be irreversible (…). We must promote the Concrete Action Agenda (ACA) and the map of solutions to strengthen the 3R. Nets, and carry out commune projects with the support of the Bolivarian Government”.

He explained that this Commune is implementing socialism in the territory with its means of production. However, the Communal Economic Circuit must be guaranteed, so the food gets to where it has to go. “There is a great force here, the corn consumed in SIDOR has to come from these lands so that the producers earn and SIDOR can continue buying at fair prices.”

Minister Arreaza stated that the products produced by the Commune must primarily benefit and reach their homes, families, schools, industrial canteens, hospitals, feeding homes, and the elderly.

The Commune produced 18 hectares of Guanape corn

The Mayor of the municipality of Caroní, Tito Oviedo, affirmed that for the first time this year, the Commune planted 18 hectares of its own corn, Guanape corn.

“We financed the seed and fertilizer at the time, and now we have assumed a plan in Guayana for the sowing to provide seeds to the whole state,” added the municipal authority.
