Press MinComunas/Karina Depablos – On Monday, President Nicolas Maduro ratified that the people’s power concept of community life must expand further and further in all the nation’s spheres and scenarios.
During the celebration of the 1 × 10 Good Government system’s first anniversary, the national leader assured that this plan yielded extraordinary results, to listen and attend to the people to raise the government’s capacity and connect it with the needs of the communities in the territories.
“The 1 x 10 has led us to increase our capacities, to demand more from ourselves, to grow, to provide more, and that is what our people are asking for, that we attend to the issues with speed and quality, and that we solve them with the people’s power, with the communal councils, with the communes, with the CLAP, with the street leaders, with the community leaders, with the UBCH, with all of us united. The grassroots power is Venezuela’s real and true power. That is the power of Venezuela demonstrated in these years. The People’s Power will be increasingly powerful in Venezuela, of the men and women on foot. From the organized community”, said Maduro.
In this sense, the head of state commented that participatory and direct democracy starts with a community organization.
“Democracy is where women and men have more and more power in their communities to govern themselves, solve and face problems, to move forward in solidarity and collectively with their communities. That is true democracy. The rest is bourgeois liberal democracy, the false democracy of minorities. The rest is democracy imitation. There the power is held by the media and the social networks, manipulative, demagogic elites with fake offers. We are on the right path. We must continue on the path of direct popular democracy”, he said.
