Women’s meeting in Caracas for the creation of Feminist Councils

Caracas, June 2, 2023 (Fundacomunal Press). Last Friday, there was a women’s meeting in Caracas to create sectorial Feminist Councils, which was an opportunity to discuss women’s leadership in the People’s Power organization.

Distinguished feminist leaders attended the meeting, such as Euridyces Gomez, General Director of Social Gender Relations Transformation, who reminisced on “Chavez Feminist” and its relevance in the struggle for equality and the leading role of women in the revolution.

On the other hand, Yoselin Garcia, Vice Minister for Equality and Non-Discrimination, defined the strategic territorial significance of the creation of the Feminist Councils as a vital instance for the execution of the public policy regarding women.

Isis Ochoa, president of Fundacredesa, spoke about feminist indicators from different areas and focused on the design of assertive public policies on gender issues.

Eulalia Tabares Roldan, president of Fundacomunal and National Superintendent of Cooperatives, assumed the role of the godmother of the People’s Power Ministry for Communes and Social Movements Feminist Councils, indicating the wonderful opportunity to organize ourselves in favor of a social economy.

The meeting was propitious to highlight the vindication of public policies on women and gender, and the Feminist Councils’ role stood out as a fundamental strategy for women’s mobilization at a territorial and sectoral level.

The main objective of these feminist councils is the strategic direction and concrete action in the development of the national feminist plan, the Gran Mision Mujer Venezuela (Great Mission Women Venezuela), and the complete defense of the causes that seek gender equality, the empowerment of women and the elimination of gender violence in Venezuela.
