Minister Arreaza highlights the role of communities in the defense of national sovereignty

Caracas, December 8, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – The Minister of Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, highlighted the significance of territorial development and communal organization within the framework of the defense of national sovereignty.

As of the Great National March, he highlighted the need to reactivate the people in the territory and focus on its recovery, especially in usurped areas such as the Essequibo, illegally occupied by the United Kingdom and now by Guyana.

“The communal members are in direct contact with the roots of the people, with the land, with the production of life, of food, with the production of clothing. They know how important organization is, and they know how important it is to rescue national sovereignty in all areas,” he emphasized.

Arreaza highlighted the defense of the identity of the Venezuelan Essequibano people and the need to integrate them into the benefits of the Bolivarian Revolution, such as food, education, and social rights.

“The communal people of Venezuela know what a fraudulent arbitration side is. They studied the Geneva Agreement and are convinced we can reach a satisfactory solution for both parties,” he added.

The minister also pointed out the importance of countering threats to Venezuelan peace through digital platforms, involving communities to spread the truth through alternative media, community radios, and even the effective use of social networks to counter any disinformation about the Essequibo and other aspects questioned in Venezuelan democracy.

“Effectively, it is the citizen in the community who can best defend the truth, who can advance in distributing and informing the people the reasons and where is and where does the truth lie in the processes.”
