President participates in the Act of Notification of the Will of the Venezuelan People in the Consultative Referendum

Caracas, December 4, 2023 (Presidential Press Office) – The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, participates in the Act of Notification to the Executive Power of the Will of the Venezuelan People in the Consultative Referendum in Defense of the Essequibo, from the headquarters of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

This Sunday night, after the Electoral Power issued a first bulletin informing that the consultation within the framework of the consultative referendum reached 10 million 554 thousand 320 votes, the Head of State will receive the certification of the electoral results this Monday.

In this regard, the President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Elvis Amoroso, indicated that the “Yes” vote won with more than 95%, with a participation of more than 10 million 500 thousand voters, which could increase with the hours, that is to say, around 50% of the electoral roll.

These results indicate that Venezuelan men and women rejected the International Court of Justice (ICJ) jurisdiction in the territorial controversy that Venezuela and Guyana have kept over the Essequibo territory for years.
