Caracas, December 4, 2023 (Presidential Press Office) – With the resounding victory of the Yes vote in the consultative referendum, which exceeded 10 million voters, Venezuela takes “the first steps of a new historical stage to fight for what is ours, to recover what the liberators left us.”
The statement corresponds to the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, who pointed out this Sunday, December 3, the fifth historical stage of the struggle for the historical, political, and legal rights of Venezuela over the territory of the Guayana Esequiba begins.
From the Bolivar Square, the epicenter of the people’s celebration of the ratification of the sovereignty over the Essequibo, he pointed out that the consultative referendum acquired a historical connotation thanks to the deep level of unity generated by an issue “that ceased to be only for specialists, and is now also an issue that belongs to all the people”.
“Historic referendum that has brought Venezuela to its feet. The Venezuelan people have spoken loud and clear this victory belongs to all the people of Venezuela without discrimination or partisanship,” he stressed.
The Head of State emphasized, in this sense, that “the only winner is the dignity and sovereignty of Venezuela,” he pointed out that the awakening of the people’s consultation is a reflection of the deep patriotic conscience of the people.
Now we will have Esequibo!
Meanwhile, the first combatant and deputy of the National Assembly, Cilia Flores, emphasized that the overwhelming manifestation of the will of the Venezuelan people will guarantee that “we will have Esequibo forever and ever.”
“With those more than 10 million wills, we are now going to have Esequibo. We will have Esequibo forever and ever because the people said Yes”, he pointed out.
The first bulletin of the National Electoral Council (CNE), presented after 10:00 p.m., evidenced the resounding victory of the Yes vote with 10 million 554 thousand 320 votes, a figure subject to change due to the extension of the electoral process.
