Young people from Caracas will take part in the Communal Textile Economic Circuit of Catia

Caracas, October 27, 2023 (MinComunas Press) – On Friday, the president of the Neighborhood Youth (Fundacion Jovenes del Barrio), Jose Lugo, met with workers of the company Royal Tex to present the lines of action that will develop under the agreement to be signed by both institutions, to strengthen and promote training plans for communal textile production in Caracas.

The agreement seeks to promote textile production and training for young representatives of the 22 parishes of Caracas.

During the meeting, they outlined the productive activities of Royal Tex. It is a company that supports the industrialization of the neighborhoods and will lend its facilities for the formation and training of the 22 young people of the parishes of Caracas nominated by their Communes to obtain their certification through the National Institute of Training and Socialist Education (INCES).

The general vision of the link between the company, which has 60% of youth workers, and the Foundation is that the school uniforms for the children of Caracas “are made in Communes, with a Communal Economic Circuit which is promoted by the Ministry of Communes, through the Vice-Ministry of Communal Economy,” highlighted José Luis Lugo, who in turn affirmed that they have been guided by the policies of the Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, to link the “youth of the different popular sectors” with the CECs.

Jose Luis Lugo mentioned that the goal is that, from the factory and the more than 22 Communes, more than 30 thousand garments are made to be distributed in the Communes and Communal Councils, being valuable actions that help young people to have economic income, as well as “generate economic stability within the different communities.”

“We from Jovenes del Barrio are going to continue promoting education, but also training in the different spaces, so that young people continue to see opportunities in our country,” said Lugo, emphasizing that from the Communes it will be possible to promote and transform the country.

Background of the Textile CEC in Catia

Lugo recalled the experience of the producers of the CEC Nuevo Horizonte in Catia, who manufactured and printed T-shirts; they also had the opportunity to produce footwear distributed in their communities.

The experience helped to support, from the factory facilities, the young people of the 22 Communes since Lugo indicated that “when we speak of a young community member, it is a young person who is capable of building a Concrete Action Agenda and is capable of transforming the problems of their communities,” thus allowing them to be in the process of textile production and distribution of school uniforms to the schools in their communities.
