Minister Arreaza: True democracy is represented in the spokespersons of the Communal Councils.

Caracas, October 20, 2023 (Press MinComunas) – This Friday, a massive event took place at the Poliedro de Caracas to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the Rudder Around (Golpe de Timón), with the participation of the Venezuelan main authorities.

More than 12 thousand People’s Power spokespersons from the 23 states of the country and the Capital District were present at this event, led by President Nicolas Maduro, which supports the project of Commander Hugo Chavez: the construction of a self-sustainable communal society and self-government.

In his speech, the Minister of Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, highlighted the importance of true democracy represented by the spokesmen and spokeswomen of the Communal Councils and Communes present at the event.

He mentioned that these representatives constitute one of the most relevant levels of government and are committed to the main decision-making in their territories and with the power of self-management.

Arreaza also highlighted the effective collaboration between various government entities to develop major projects and solve problems related to public services, production, and security, among other areas.

Likewise, the minister outlined how the unified work of the national, state, municipal, and communal governments is giving results, even in remote territories that did not have resources.

“The mayor provides the piping, the minister sends the machinery, the Communal Council provides the labor, the Commune provides other machinery, and between all of us, we are providing solutions as a single government to the problems of the people in the territory,” he explained.

On October 20, 2012, Commander Hugo Chavez, in his historic Rudder Around, outlined a new course for the Bolivarian Revolution and projected the Commune as the transversal axis of all government policies.
