Minister Arreaza presents the Venezuelan People’s Power organization’s experience in Cuba

Havana, Cuba, September 28, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – This Thursday, on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro’s government, the People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, participated in the closing ceremony of the 10th Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in Cuba, at the Havana Convention Palace.

The activity summoned more than 400 delegates and special guests, such as the Commander of the Rebel Army, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, being presided over by the Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, together with Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo, national CDR coordinator, ratified in the responsibility and presented the work of the Committees in the last five years.

Hernandez Nordelo considered it vital to reinforce the CDRs from aspects such as the policy of cadres, the increased participation of young people, and the integration of all the factors of the communities in the improvement of people’s living conditions.

This Thursday, the CDRs are celebrating the 63rd anniversary of their foundation, immersed in a process of revitalization of their structures and adaptation to the new times.

During his intervention on behalf of the Bolivarian Revolution, Minister Arreaza explained that similar to the CDRs in Cuba, in Venezuela, there are Communal Councils, structures created by Commander Hugo Chavez in 2006, constituting a government in the territory, detailing that in our country there are four levels of government: national, regional, municipal and communal and that the Communal Councils aggregated into Communes.

He specified that at this moment there are 1 million 653 thousand 534 spokespersons of the Communal Councils renewed or in force, in addition to the base structure of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), which has around 1 million 500 thousand people in its street, community and UBCh instances, which constitutes an organized body in the vanguard to make the Bolivarian Revolution irreversible, following the recommendation that Commander Fidel Castro once gave to Chavez.

Arreaza acknowledged the relevance of the congress at this moment of aggression against Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba, which demonstrates with the activity the strength of the revolution, and socialism on the island.

The Minister proposed to the Cuban authorities a meeting next year of the CDRs and People’s Power spokespersons in Venezuela, both of the Communal Councils and Communes, as well as of the PSUV baseline structures while he offered Cuba the Sinco IT communication system, designed in the country, which allows the interaction of the rulers with the organized people, the uploading of community projects for their evaluation.

No one gives up here.

President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez congratulated the members of the Confederation on the anniversary of the organization founded by Castro “on a historic night” of September 28, 1960, to mobilize all the people in the tasks of defending the Revolution, and the achievements of socialism, through direct work with individuals and families in the community.

Regarding the current situation, the Antillean nation goes through due to the persistence of the U.S. blockade, the President said: “We are facing the situation creatively with decisions, without fear, courage, and optimism and also, with Cuban charm, because nobody surrenders here.”

He recalled Cuba’s recent participation in two important international events that constituted political and diplomatic victories of the Cuban Revolution, such as the Summit of the Group of 77 and China and the beginning of the 78th session of the National Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

“Under the weight of unaffordable debts and promises of development aid that are never fulfilled, our peoples are the ones in need, the most vulnerable, the eternally condemned to dispossession, oblivion, and underdevelopment,” he warned.

Regarding the G77 summit, he denounced that the enemies of the Cuban Revolution tried to make it fail and to take away the relevance of the proposed topic under discussion, as if the South was indifferent or unnecessary to discuss science, technology, and innovation, as a way to face the current challenges.

They also “threatened to boycott our attendance to the UN (…), but we went because we are children of a Revolution that has never shunned uncomfortable scenarios, that has never allowed itself to be threatened or intimidated by the empire”.

The leader concluded by expressing the primary role of the CDRs in building and developing the socialism they chose as the only system that guarantees the highest degree of social justice possible. “In that disposition, in the front row, at the forefront goes the committee, with its founder and eternal leader, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro,” Diaz-Canel expressed.
