Portuguesa, September 23, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – This Saturday in Araure, Portuguesa state, an assembly of local and regional producers took place to strengthen the Communal Economic Circuits (CEC) of corn, where they systematized their productive experiences.
The activity brought together the CECs of Barinas, Lara, and Portuguesa that received inputs through the Federal Council of Government (CFG) for the Communal Sowing Plan 2023. The Vice Minister of Communal Economy, Hernan Vargas, and the Director of the Territorial Coordination Office of the Ministry of People’s Power for Communes and Social Movements, Ciro Rodriguez, also attended the meeting.
During the systematization process, the communal farmers indicated that, despite the dry season, the sowings managed to grow, and they expect a good harvest of 1.5 thousand kilos of corn per hectare.
Through the Communal Sowing Plan 2023, the local producers obtained the necessary resources for their crops. It is the case of the corn CECs, to whom the CFG granted good quality seeds and fertilizers so they produce corn with excellent qualities for this year’s harvest and collect the expected quantities.
Maria Matute from Comandante Supremo Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias Commune highlighted the quality of the inputs they received for sowing.
Collective work
Vice Minister Hernan Vargas called for union and joint planning among the community members so that they do not depend on any intermediary when commercializing their products.
He estimated that the information meetings to know the progress of the phases of the Communal Sowing Plan should be monthly to know how, between the Communal Councils and their CECs, they can work collectively and create budgets and communal funds, either for the reactivation of machinery or for expenses required for the crops, being an important step to avoid dependence on intermediaries for the sale of foodstuffs.
For the director, Ciro Rodriguez, this meeting will serve as a precedent to manage the inputs of the Plan de Siembra 2024, emphasizing that it is a communal strategy that promotes national production through the CECs.

The visit to the Montañuela community told the authorities the site’s communal store, where Ticoporo pre-cooked corn flour markets. It enables the idea that the Communes play a central role in the country’s economic recovery to be reaffirmed with these local marketing actions.
There, Vice Minister Hernan Vargas emphasized that the Communes should be an example of an organization, not only to generate food but also to respond to the needs by creating alliances between producers of different items through “exchanges with some cooperatives,” which would contribute to solving the needs of producers and their families.
The assemblies of the planning tables of the corn CECs, added to the actions of the Communes to supply the communities in which they live, are part of the tasks proposed, and in part fulfilled, by the producers, who seek to generate a livelihood for their households, without depending on private companies that, for the most part, appropriate most of the crops of the community members.
