Inicia cosecha de cereales en Barinas: detalles del Plan de Siembra 2023-2024

Harvest of the Sowing Plan begins in Barinas

Barinas, September 23, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – This Saturday, the expected harvest began within the framework of the Cereal Planting Plan in the Masparrito sector, Rojas municipality of Barinas state, in charge of the experienced producer Alirio Camargo, who has the financial backing of the company Agroalvenca.

The project’s primary goal is to obtain a yield of 4,500 kilos of cereals per hectare. It translates into an estimated harvest of 81 tons of white corn.

Jorge Arreaza, Minister of Communes and Social Movements, remarked that this event is an agricultural progress symbol but marks a milestone in the struggle for land democratization in Venezuela.

The Minister emphasized the importance of this achievement and underscored the government’s commitment to agrarian reform.

“This is a significant step towards building a Venezuela where our peasants not only have their land but also the capacity to produce quality food for our people.”

In addition to the harvest itself, other crucial challenges for farmers were discussed, such as the agricultural road improvement in the plains entity and guaranteeing the fuel, especially diesel, which is vital for machinery.

Laura Laguna, head of the Productive Economy Commission of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela in Barinas, highlighted farmers’ challenges in prices and supplies.

“Previously, the company set a price that they always ended up lowering soon, and now it is the matter of the kilos that they demand from you for the amount of kilos they have received. So, now we are also preparing for them to enter, and this can be one of the tools to give the debate.”

The Productive Economy Commission and the peasant spokespersons, together with the Ministry of Communes and Social Movements, are working tirelessly on providing solutions to these challenges and ensuring that farmers have the necessary tools to continue driving food production in Venezuela, said Jean Carlos Linares, representing the rural workers.

“We farmers are sowing the land, willing to work, willing to move forward in this country where we will not give up, as long as we walk hand in hand with our national government because we are the ones who produce and we are the ones who sow.”

Allocation of lands

On the other hand, Jairo Salazar, spokesman of the municipal National Land Commission, highlighted the delivery of 305 titles assigned in the first phase to the municipality Pedro Felipe Sosa Bermudez, destined for national production.

“The peasants have waited for this, and I want to tell you that this could only be achieved in revolution. Today, you will have your title of agrarian adjudication in your hands, which allows you to grow in the food and economic field.”

On the other hand, he highlighted that 70% of the Communal Councils of this municipality have been established, and he expressed the will of the communal leaders to work hand in hand with the Ministry.

“We peasants are sowing the land, ready to work, ready to move this country forward,” he added.

The Ministry of Communes and Social Movements has managed the resources and inputs to promote the Sowing Plan in several states in a collective effort to guarantee food sovereignty despite the blockade and unilateral sanctions.
