Communal Government committed to the sanitation of Lake Maracaibo

Maracaibo, September 7, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – This Thursday, in the Communal Government Cabinet along with the People’s Power base organizations of Cristo de Aranza parish in Maracaibo, Zulia state, presented the proposals built collectively in five brigades or work tables, in the context of the Master Plan for the rescue, conservation and sustainable development of Lake Maracaibo, under the instructions of President Nicolas Maduro.

Representatives of the three constituted Communes and one under construction in Maracaibo’s parish and authorities of the National Government participated in the work day.

The People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, oriented the debate from the political and popular organization point of view, emphasizing that “where the Commune works, the people are happier.” Therefore, it is necessary to “make the Commune work better.”

He urged the unity of the revolutionary forces to preserve life in Venezuela as a strategic objective, “enough of fights, of divided groups.” He insisted that the Commune is the territory government, so they must assume themselves as such.

The People’s Power Minister for Urban Agriculture, Jhoanna Carrillo, proposed to consolidate the social mapping in the area and, from there, generate the schedule of activities of social attention through Love in Action Workshops organized with the social missions group and the system of missions and “to progressively enable the social attention President Nicolas Maduro ordered and that the cases of Ven APP of the 1×10 of the Good Government are taken care of”.

He indicated the idea is for the Communal Council and the Commune to be the epicenter “where we all see each other.” He spoke of accelerating the micro-zoning where the Missions Bases will be located in Maracaibo, and on the productive issue, he mentioned that President Maduro instructed “to focus on schools, allowing us to reinforce the economic circuit,” through the “My School Farm “Carlos Lanz” plan.

Isis Ochoa, president of Fundacredesa, a research center attached to the Ministry of Communes, justified that there must be a work of promotion and defense of life through a plan designed to address the wounds left by the multidimensional war and the COVID-19 pandemic.

He announced that they will start with a nutritional surveillance plan to transform eating habits and then work on the mental health issue “because there are many sequels and wounds that require a loving accompaniment to rebuild the meaning of life.”

“The work plan’s purpose is to turn the territory into an impregnable space for the defense of the Homeland, sovereignty, and life,” he specified.

Work tables

During the Communal Government Cabinet in the Zulian capital, they created various work tables or brigades of Ecosocialism, Habitat and Housing, Communal Economy, Training, and Social to be responsible for debating and agreeing on proposals aligned with the preservation and rescue of Maracaibo Lake.

In the field of Ecosocialism, Kelly Martinez, a spokeswoman for Un Sola Revolucion Communal Council of Las 4 Vertices en Revolucion Commune, presented, among various proposals, the implementation of permanent sanitation campaigns in Maracaibo Lake and raising awareness on the importance of its rescue; strengthening the program of community nurseries to reforest the coastal areas, weeding and cleaning of ravines, maintenance of sewage, creation of brigades of children and youth guardians of the Lake.

In the area of Habitat and Housing, Jorge Sarapines, spokesman for Administration and finances of “Ruben Colina” Communal Council and planner of “Las 4 vertices en Revolución” Commune, proposed, as conclusions of his table, to promote the transformation of the landscaping around the Lake, as well as the recovery and creation of recreational and sports spaces and maintenance of the houses of the sectors bordering the lake area, besides designing a plan of action between the government entities and the Communes for the maintenance and collection of the waste dumped into the Lake.

Ledys Fonseca, a spokeswoman for the Communal Economy Brigade, “Los Combatientes de Cristo de Aranza” Commune, prioritized among the proposals the creation of recycling companies for the classification of solid wastes, which will allow the development of a management system in this matter, with a vision of permanence in time.

Regarding the Training Brigade, Pedro Leidenz, spokesman for Culture of the Communal Council Fundación Maracaibo of the Commune El Despertar, spoke of implementing in each UBCh the work nuclei, starting with the reading circles, aimed at analyzing the problem, proposals and solutions to the sanitation of the Lake; promoting basic, theoretical and productive training, with active and permanent participation of the Popular Power, and integrating the educational missions in the plans and projects for the classification of solid waste, cleaning of green areas.

Finally, in the Social area, Jorge Tuviñez, a spokesman for Administration and finances of the “El Poniente” Socialist Communal Council of “Los Combatientes de Cristo de Aranza” Commune, stated that from the articulation of the four government levels to guarantee social protection to the communities, to promote the missions and the great missions from the creation of the technical service tables, prioritizing the attention to the health centers.
