The Minister requested that the University should dictate a chair on the communal economy and emphasized that it is necessary to promote citizens’ assemblies permanently so that through the Committees, in their Communal Councils and their Communes, producers can create and strengthen the Communal Economic Circuits to meet the food needs of the territories.

In this context, Professor Adan Chavez, Unellez’s rector, expressed that the university articulates and accelerates the contact of this important house of study with the organized communities with the Communes. “With today’s delivery and as a Production Unit, we want to make the motto “the university that sows” a reality. With the inputs we receive, we would plant 50 hectares of white corn in the El Carmen property and 50 hectares would be for the alliance we established with the Florentino Center”.

He detailed that very soon, thanks to the articulation with the National Government and the Ministry of Communes, they will put more than 6,000 hectares into production to reinvest the surpluses, not only in the production area but the social area.

For her part, Lennys Torres, a producer of the Network of Corn Growers, explained that they work with corn seeds that have one hundred percent germination and liquid fertilizers of excellent quality.

“The 200 hectares planting plan, thanks to the Federal Council of Government, is being executed by 40 producers from the municipalities of Zamora, Sucre, and Pedraza, who currently require the activation of the Agricultural Bank to boost financing and promote production in the state”.

Similarly, rice producer Carlos Cristacho, from the Boca de Anaro Communal Council, added that in 2019 as a seed producer, he managed to finance other small and large producers. “In addition to putting more than 400 hectares into production, I made alliances with the Boca de Anaro Commune to invest the profits in the sector’s ambulatory.”

In addition to the seeds, the authorities delivered fertilizers and biological controllers.
