Caracas, June 26, 2023 (Press Mincomunas) – On Monday, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, signed the enactment of the reformed Organic Law of the Communal Councils to strengthen the people’s participatory and protagonist democracy.
During the transmission of his television program “Con Maduro +” (With Maduro plus), in the segment Con Maduro + Poder Popular (With Maduro + People’s Power), the Head of State stated, “The People’s Power itself reformed, improved, adapted, perfected and modernized the law and I am ready, by the authority given to me by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela as President, Head of State and Head of Government, to sign and execute the new Law of the Communal Councils.”
In this context, Deputy Carlos Mogollon, a Commission member for the Law’s reform, pointed out that this legal instrument was approved by a qualified majority in the National Assembly last Thursday.
Likewise, Deputy Willy Medina added that “the National Assembly launched a public consultation and went to the Amazonas, Zulia, Tachira, the Plains and the country’s eastern states, to gather the Community Councils’ proposals and desires of the Venezuelan people.”
He explained that the new Law establishes that the Communal Councils are instances of community government. It also extends the term of the spokespersons to three years, strengthening the assembly spirit and systematizing the electoral processes.
Permanent communication with the People’s Power
During the program, President Maduro interacted directly with spokesperson Haylem Reyes from La Resistencia Heroica de Lidice Commune, who expressed her gratitude for the new Law, as it is the only tool for the People’s Power to move forward and provide solutions to territorial problems.
Meanwhile, spokeswoman Victoria Londoño of Cacique Carapaica Communal Council expressed, “All the communal parliamentarians and the Communes blocks are very happy because you answered the people’s call; now we have a Law where the young people and the technological, organizational, and reflects the People’s Power productive advances.”
He detailed that the People’s Power Ministry for the Communes and Social Movements enabled a digital platform so that the people’s proposals could immediately reach the necessary authorities.
Jorge Arreaza, People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, pointed out that this Law, in force for 13 years, incorporates the Concrete Action Agenda (ACA) so that the people can make decisions and solve day-to-day problems.
Finally, President Maduro called for establishing mechanisms for debate and permanent communication with the People’s Power to continue deepening socialism in the territorial sphere.
