Communal Economic Circuits promote the Hecho en Comuna (Made in Commune) policy

Caracas, June 20, 2023 (Press Mincomunas) – The People’s Power Ministry for Communes and Social Movements conducted a first meeting with the Communal Economic Circuits spokespersons, at the beginning of a coordination and co-responsibility mechanism that seeks to promote the Hecho en Comuna policy jointly, according to the principles of the management model in Socialism outlined in the Homeland Plan.

The Vice-Minister of Communal Economy, Hernan Vargas, contextualized that since last year the trial started with the Circuits and Communal Economic Zones, which today are a reality. “Each one of these circuits made a public balance and has stated what their plans are henceforth; based on that, we are activating a coordination space of the Hecho en Comuna (Made in Commune) brand production to coordinate the policies related to the strengthening of this new economy for life,” he pointed out.

He explained that the meeting focused on the Ministry’s balance on the progress made in communal economy, and what the results have been. Vargas indicated that they also discussed the Communal Banking issue, how to advance in this stage with communal credits to the new circuits that will activate but also how to advance in a new stage, where each one of the communal circuits will have a Communal Bank, which would enable the small producer to guarantee its necessities of food, clothes, inputs for production and, progressively, other means to sustain production.

The ministerial authority pointed out that they also discussed the Hecho en Comuna brand and the commercialization strategies, how to expand the communal fairs throughout the country, how to activate Hecho en Comuna stores, and how to promote the Communal Baskets mechanism, which will guarantee that all the producers associated to the communal economy can have at least guaranteed food and clothing.

Based on the debate, Vargas specified the establishment of a first action plan to activate a distribution to 2,000 families in nine circuits of a Communal Basket with basic supplies in the next two weeks, in which the products will progressively be Made in Commune. “In this first delivery, flour, potato, coffee, cocoa powder, and panela will be Made in Commune and, gradually, add the rest of the products,” he said.

They also agreed to start the planning process of a plan for a Communal Basket of clothes 100% Made in Commune, estimating that the families will assemble the census of people and sizes in 15 days, and the nascent Textile Circuit will put together a catalog of casual clothes, school uniforms, and work uniforms.
