Caracas, June 8, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – This Thursday, President Nicolas Maduro assured that Venezuela’s truest leadership is in the depths of the communities, where the creative capacity and organization of the people guarantee the works and projects to live well.
During the National Congress of Direct Experiences of Management of the People’s Power closure at the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, the president ratified that the most important thing is to advance the concrete construction of a new type of honest and direct democracy.
“How satisfying! What a great thing to see the result of the work of dozens of Communes and thousands of Communal Councils. How good to see the truthful, sincere, and hard-working faces of men and women, leaders of the People’s Power, of the homeland’s communal power. Democracy is from the people, with the people, and for the people. Everything is linked. For us, it is vital, in this 21st century, to continue building and expanding communal power, direct democracy, and the power of the majorities”, he emphasized.
In this sense, the Head of State recalled that communal power emerged from the National Constitution of 1999 when Commander Hugo Chavez, with great wisdom, knew how to read that the right path was communal power.
“A new power emerged from the concrete experience of the land committees, water committees, and electricity technical tables. The Communal Councils were born from the people, from concrete experience, from the daily work, and the deep and true leadership of the people who do, believe, and build common welfare. Back in 2004, another form of democracy began to emerge from the hand of Commander Chávez; he took them in his hands and perfected them. The Communal Councils heeded the call, and that is how the country learned this new formula: the power of the communities”, he stated.
President Nicolas Maduro reiterated that Venezuela is the epicenter of an enormous historical trial of a people who have dared to rebel against empires and break with economic, political, and cultural oligarchies.
“The Venezuelan people have embarked on the path to build their own political model based on their historical roots, legacy, worldview, creativity, wisdom, intelligence, and their own leadership. It is another type of political model of democracy, and we have to persevere on that path. That is why it is so important to gather these experiences of the National Congress of Direct Experiences of Management of Popular Power to see how people learn to do with what it has. It is an enormous collective effort. It never ends. Every day there is something new to do, and we do it; and done by the leadership of each neighborhood, hamlet, and town of Venezuela”, he pointed out.
