Caracas, May 30, 2023 (UBC Press) – The forum “Responsible Mining in Venezuela” celebrated the 17th anniversary of Mision Arbol (Tree Mission) to contribute to the formation of ecosocialist values. This activity is considered a sensitive and critical issue, but with responsibility and ecological awareness by taking care of our Mother Earth.

During the forum, there were public officials awarded a total of 100 certificates of responsible mining with social and environmental responsibility.

The People’s Power Minister for Ecosocialism, Josue Lorca, and the president of Mision Arbol (Tree Mission), Wilmer Vasquez, attended the event with Dr. Richard Delgado, vice minister of the Communal Training System for Social Movements and rector of the Bolivarian University of Communes (UBC), to accompany this certification of promoters of Responsible Mining pleasantly.

The certification was on Tuesday, May 30, at the National Cinematheque, on Libertador Avenue in the Museum of Fine Arts, Capital District.

We must mention that responsible mining refers to the implementation of sustainable practices and standards in mining operations. It involves minimizing the negative environmental and social impacts of mining while maximizing its positive contributions to society. It involves a variety of practices, including environmental stewardship, community involvement, ethical business practices, and compliance with norms and standards.

In this case, responsible mining promoter certification verifies that a mining company complies with established standards and requirements in sustainability and social responsibility. It recognizes and validates the efforts of mining companies to improve their environmental and social performance and increase their transparency and accountability.

Finally, the attending institutions were: People’s Power Ministry for Communes, Mision Arbol, Mision Piar, Minec, and the People’s Power Ministry for Ecosocialism.
