Caracas, March 3, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – This Friday, from the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, the People’s Power Minister for the Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, stated that Commander Hugo Chavez Frias’ Simon Bolivar National Project recovers its validity on a world scale: ” Through this Project, we promote a truly democratic system that gives power to the people, to the People’s Power so they can govern from their own territory.”
Minister Arreaza assured during the installation of the First World Meeting for the validity of the Bolivarian thought of Commander Hugo Chavez in the 21st century, where 147 international delegates from 55 countries, intellectuals, and People’s Power organizations participated, that Chavez took power away from the bourgeoisie because he only represented the rights of the big corporations and not those of the majorities.
“As part of the participatory and protagonist democracy in Venezuela, we work with four levels of government: national, state, municipal, and communal. The latter constituted by the Communes and the Communal Councils, which must guarantee their permanent participation so that in citizens’ assemblies they can make decisions to solve the problems of their community.”
He specified that after ten years of Commander Chavez’s sowing, the Communes and their work committees are an organized constituted power, not only to enforce their rights but also to promote important projects that guarantee the strengthening of their economy in the midst of imperialism’s blockades and sanctions.
The Minister called on the international delegates to travel the nation’s streets to visualize the work and successful experiences from the Communes and the Communal Councils.
In this sense, the Governor of Miranda State, Hector Rodriguez, added that Chavism is a force that made its economy rise from the ashes.
“The People’s Power has empowered and has seized the means of production to collectively promote all their projects with the support of the co-government,” he added.
Similarly, Joao Pedro Stedile from the Landless Rural Workers Movement of Brazil (MST) stated that the capitalist world is in crisis, and its economic system is already part of the past. “The bourgeois state no longer functions. In the face of this crisis, popular organizations are exercising popular democracy and controlling the production of goods, which will allow them to attain political power,” he said.
In the words of Carlos Ron, vice minister for North America and president of the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity among Peoples (ISB), the meeting would serve as a space to analyze media democratization as the people’s struggle to liberate themselves and confront capitalism. Finally, the Spokesperson of the El Panal 21 Commune of the 23 de Enero parish of Caracas, Barbara Martinez, pointed out that the People’s Power must exercise self-government and guarantee that “in the Commune, there are no levels of malnutrition or school dropouts, that the modes of production and their forms do not lead to exploitation and that the accumulation of wealth goes for the common good.
