Caracas, February 23, 2023 (Press Mincomunas) -This Thursday, the People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, asserted through a videoconference that the People’s Power, the Communes, and the Communal Councils must organize themselves to exercise self-government in the territory.
During his intervention in the workshop “Coercive Measures against the Venezuelan People. Denunciation and Challenges in the Plan of the Homeland”, promoted by the People’s Ministry of Planning, he assured that: “The People’s Power can face the sanctions and guarantee the political, economic and social stability of the country if it organizes through the Communal Councils and the different committees.”
He commented that the people must demonstrate that they are capable of making decisions, administering resources, and solving the problems of their communities.
In this sense, as Commander Hugo Chavez stated, he highlighted that “the People’s Power must be organized from a true, participative and protagonist democracy, to acquire the legitimate character and discuss in permanent assemblies the solutions and projects required by the territory to move forward and guarantee the greatest amount of happiness” to the population.
He recalled that in 2010 when the Communal Councils began to conform into Communes, the People’s Power began to plan the different ways of governing in their sector, municipality, and state. “The competencies of these instances complement the work carried out by the Mayors’ and Governors’ Offices in education, health, infrastructure, and services.”
He added that all the coercive measures imposed by U.S. imperialism were and still aim at deactivating the government power of the people. “Today, we are perceiving aggressions against the currency, oil exports, production, and the economy in general. However, this situation must feed the insurgent force of the people, which must activate itself, and re-legitimize its spokespersons and its leadership, to carry forward the country project of the Bolivarian Revolution.
“In the years of war, the number of Communal Councils, Communes, and registered socio-productive organizations increased, which shows that we have advanced in the organizational capacity and self-government formulas have been generated to guarantee the distribution of food, medicines, construction of important schools, generate means of production and consolidate communal economic circuits,” he added.
Finally, Minister Arreaza pointed out that at this moment, the People’s Power must be strengthened and promote the Concrete Action Agenda (ACA) and the Map of Solutions to provide answers to the population and to promote communal self-government.
