The renewal of the Communal Councils’ spokespersons is successfully carried out throughout the country

Caracas, September 21, 2022 (Press MinComunas) – On Wednesday, the People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, informed that the elections for the renewal of the spokespersons of the Communal Councils are successfully carried out throughout the country.

This direct, participatory, and democratic process has acquired significant momentum throughout the national territory in accordance with President Nicolas Maduro’s guidelines to accelerate and implement the adequacy of the Communal Councils.

“Once the election finishes, remember to register the results on the page http://comunas.gob.ve and move forward to activate the Working Committees by area,” suggested Minister Arreaza through his Twitter account.

Last September 5, President Maduro proposed a broad and deep consolidation of the Congress of the New Epoch and the democratic renewal of more than 22,000 Communal Councils of the country as lines of action during a meeting with the Council of Vice Presidents and the political bureau of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

“We are going to meet all over the country to embrace each other, to unite, multiply the effort and work. And we are going to deepen the democratic renovation by popular vote of the country’s Communal Councils and the empowerment of Venezuela’s communal movement”, said the national president.

The Organic Law of the Communal Councils establishes in article 15 that the nominees for spokespersons for the Communal Councils must be Venezuelan, foreigner or foreign resident, and inhabitant of the community with at least one year of residence in the same. They must present the letter of nomination or written manifestation of the will, identifying name, surname, and identity card. Must be older than 15 years old, be registered in the electoral registry of the community, and have the capacity of collective work with disposition and time.
