Minister Arreaza: True democracy is handing over power to the people

Cuba, September 29, 2023 (Press Mincomunas) – This Friday, in an exclusive interview with Telesur, the Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, assured that the peoples of the South are more united than ever and that imperialism has a hard time accepting it.

From Havana, Cuba, where he attended the 10th Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), Arreaza pointed out that “the imposed liberal democracies are nothing but expressions of the dominant people and corporate groups. We from Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, and other countries are generating a real democracy as Commander Hugo Chavez said and President Nicolas Mauro permanently ratified, it is the new era to hand over power to the people”.

The communalized State will be non-transferable, and the people will never lose that power. The ministerial authority underlined and added that “there will be no way to alienate that people (…). When Chavez designed the People’s Power structures in Venezuela, he considered the work of the Cuban CDRs as a bastion for the defense of the Revolution and of social action, as well as a reference for the organization and mobilization of all political processes in the world”.

Regarding capitalist and imperialist countries’ onslaught against progressive countries, the Minister of Communes argued that “one of the characteristics of our people as children of Bolivar is that we are in the vanguard of the processes, and that is a great historical burden we have. Our heroes at the time of independence fought for sovereignty as Cuba did, as the last of the colonies to be dominated.”

“The characteristics of our peoples, their capacity of resistance and struggle is historical, we carry it inside, and there is no way that any empire can with that; by generating a community structure in Venezuela, to deliver power to the people and generate true democracy. Regarding the new era, it forces us to rethink the codes, and the youth of today has no resemblance to the youth of 15 years ago”, highlighted the Minister of Communes in the interview with Telesur.

Finally, the Venezuelan Minister reiterated the role of the youth today: “It is the youth who gives continuity to the historical processes. We have to revitalize and generate new tasks and orientations that complement the ones they already have to give true power to the people.”
