La Guaira, August 30, 2023 (Press MPPP) – This Wednesday, the Sectoral Vice-Presidency of Planning visited Guaicamacuto Socialist Commune in Macuto parish, La Guaira state, where it was able to verify the ongoing work undertaken by the People’s Power organized in the development of its Community Risk Map.
It was made known by the head of the mentioned Executive instance and also People’s Power Minister for Planning, Ricardo Menendez, who informed that the national government, following the instructions of the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, is carrying out an integral approach to work on the issue of environmental risk, not as a circumstantial or situational aspect, but as an area to face against the climate crisis that capitalism has generated on the entire planet.
In this sense, Menendez highlighted that in Guaicamacuto’s case, they have been working specifically on the Map of Solutions, which corresponds to the Concrete Action Agenda (ACA), to create a specific approach linked to the risk issue that enables a public policy grafting system.
Change in Urban Design Variables
Menendez emphasized that several circular plans are currently in progress to articulate government strategies with a different vision of how to populate the planet facing the climate crisis.
“It is about assuming, from the Maps of Solutions, a critical community awareness and a people’s power organization in the face of any contingency, but also adjusting and changing the variables of urban design.”
The Minister also mentioned that this work is a joint effort of the people’s power involving the Ministries of Communes and Social Movements, the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Ecosocialism, the Ministry of Interior and Justice, and the Vice-Presidency of Services.
This articulation of the government level implies that each one of the problems must have synergy and synchrony to deal with them.
Finally, the vice president said that soon, the National Geographic Institute will develop digitalized cartography with drones to contribute to the organization of the communities to face the risk issue.
“It is important to systematize the experiences of the ACAs, of the Solution Maps, and in the specific case of the irrigation issue, to extend this base to all the Communal Councils, to the whole integral vision of development of our country.”
Nereida Rodriguez, a community member, emphasized that this is a relevant tool for the community members because, this way, the institutions that must work with the diagnosis made by the community people’s power can mind the problems of each community.
“We are all builders of a new country, builders of a new socialism, and builders of a happy homeland.”
