Caracas, August 3, 2023 (Press Mincomunas) – In a meeting held in the city of Caracas, the regional directors of the School for the Strengthening of People’s Power met to discuss working lines as public servants in the territories, within the framework of the promotion of socialism in the communities.
The event took place at the Venezuelan School of Planning. It brought together relevant authorities, who shared perspectives and analysis on the fundamental pillars of the socio-political transformation of the country.
The People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, delivered an emotional speech highlighting the importance of the Commune as the fundamental territory for the birth and growth of socialism.
In his words, he highlighted the need to sow the bases in the community, allowing it to “take root as a strong and fruitful tree,” capable of resisting adversities and nourished by the active participation of the people.
“The Commune is the territory where we have to give birth, where we are going to give birth to socialism (…) You tomorrow will be the formers of the new communal society. So, for me, it is a pride that you are part of the team of the revolution, that you are part of the team of the Ministry for the Communes, and we will measure ourselves to the extent that there is more and more light in the Communes and the Communal Councils”, he highlighted.
The Minister of Planning, Ricardo Menendez, also attended the meeting and emphasized the importance of social movements as mediators between the State and civil society.
Menendez emphasized strengthening the identity and historical memory of the communities and the importance of monitoring and controlling the projects and plans implemented.
“Economic power has a form of expression in society, which is the State, but not everyone is part of the State. There is a civil society that is those who do the mediation.
In civil society, there are those endowed with reason. It is necessary to understand how these organizations contribute to the communal construction and the identity consolidation.”
On his part, the Vice-Minister for Communal and Social Organization and Participation, Cesar Carrero, spoke of the relevance of cultivating the spirit of the Commune as an engine of change and development.
He also highlighted the demand for the construction of effective indicators to evaluate the progress and achievements of communal projects.
“The spirit of the Commune is the most important thing. How do we achieve different forms of relationships, different production relations that allow us to view that everything done contributes to the development of life, not for the accumulation of capital?”
For his part, Sandino Marcano, General Director of the Strategic Office for the Follow-up and Evaluation of Public Policies, stressed the importance of follow-up and control of community projects, emphasizing the need to close the cycle of planning, execution, follow-up, and evaluation to guarantee their success.
Finally, Lidice Altuve, head of the Training System and president of the School for the Strengthening of Popular Power, stressed the relevance of promoting the identity and historical memory of communities and social movements.
“It was a day of reflection, of exchange, of debate, of all the directors and all the teams that have been accompanying all the orientations, the policy guidelines, and putting an order in operation that emanates from the Ministry in the territories and to our communities and the People’s Power,” she concluded.
The meeting took place on August 2 and 3 in the Venezuelan capital.
