Caracas, July 27, 2023 (Mincomunas Press) – The People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, assured this Thursday that 21st-century socialism begins in the territory with the Communal Councils and the Communes.
During an interview with Mexican researcher and philosopher Katya Colmenares, after contextualizing the revolutionary process that began 200 years ago in Latin America with great heroes such as Simon Bolivar, Francisco de Miranda, and Antonio Jose de Sucre, Minister Arreaza expressed that Venezuela has been under a neoliberal system, which intends to prevent the Bolivarian Revolution from having access to its natural resources, especially its oil.
“We have had confrontations, coups d’état, attacks to the oil industry (…), and we are currently living sanctions and blockades that seek to neutralize an organized people fighting for their rights”.
He assured that: “to speak of Bolivarian Revolution is to speak of real democracy, of democratization to health services, education, housing, food, to the social rights that the organized people can have in the territory.”
The People’s Organization
He stressed that to advance in the construction of socialism, it is necessary to promote and guarantee the people’s organization through the Communal Councils and the Communes.
“The Communal Councils and the Communes are the synthesis of the Bolivarian project created by Commander Hugo Chavez. The Commune is the territory where we deliver socialism on a daily basis, in every space; it is a collective construction that can’t be imposed.”
He asserted that this approach, despite being a great challenge, the revolutionaries are willing to build it hand in hand with the People’s Power under the leadership of President Maduro.
“We struggle for our political, economic, and social independence. We want a decolonized society. We want to leave the domination system behind, which has done so much damage, especially to the original peoples, to the indigenous peoples”.
He considered that the Venezuelan people have endured and heroically resisted all the attacks of imperialism: “We had to reinvent ourselves, adapt to the new reality to do, sometimes with a lot and sometimes with nothing, what is necessary to guarantee food production and the welfare of all citizens,” said the Minister.
Empowered women
Regarding women’s participation, the head of the Office of Communes added that the Bolivarian Revolution is a woman. It is feminist.
“They have empowered themselves, and we see that when we go to a community and observe that the spokeswomen are the essence of the People’s Power in Venezuela.”
On the other hand, Minister Arreaza urged the union of all Latin American peoples to deepen socialism and promote the Union of South American Nations (Unasur).
“Our union is a necessity to protect ourselves, to exist, so that we can guide the destiny of humanity (…). We have great natural resources to direct the productive processes that will allow us to be independent”.
The new world order
Regarding the new world order, the Minister said that we must use new technologies with a conscience to protect the world, the Pachamama.
“We must stop capitalism and build a world community with other characteristics. We have enough resources and time to protect Mother Earth. We are in time to slow down climate change.”
Finally, he added that beyond the benefits generated by artificial intelligence, it is necessary to “promote the productive intelligence of the people, it is necessary to exercise leadership and take part in decision making to make the necessary changes and create processes for the benefit of the people.”
