Caracas, July 12, 2023 (Press Mincomunas) – According to the president of the Foundation for the Development and Promotion of Communal Power (Fundacomunal), Eulalia Tabares Roldan, the Venezuelan people have overcome all the hard trials of the last few years, such as the pandemic and unilateral coercive measures, thanks to their organizational power, their tireless struggle and their commitment to the homeland.
“Today, we can say that the people’s power is more alive than ever in Venezuela. Eighty percent of the communal councils in the country are operational and developing multiple projects. The communes are fully active in understanding the planning of their territory and building collective welfare,” he said.
During her participation in the program “En clave comunal,” broadcasted by Radio Nacional de Venezuela, Tabares commented that, without a doubt, Venezuelan women play a leading role in the organization of the communities throughout the country, as well as in the very structure of Fundacomunal.
“About 75 % of the spokespersons in the communal councils and the communes correspond to Venezuelan women. We see women leaders in the territories. Fighting for the common good. We also have an army of men and women in Fundacomunal. We have a force of promoters, of which 60% are women, who are in charge of accompanying the spaces of popular power”, she emphasized.
Tabares assured that the integral promoters of Fundacomunal are those who give life to the institution since, day by day, they form, articulate, and accompany the organized people in each step to execute a project, plan, or program.
“Fundacomunal is present in all the municipalities of the country. It is an institution with a sense of belonging and territorial sense. The people’s power trusts Fundacomunal, and we try to provide support to everyone despite the difficulties and adversities that Venezuela is going through. Our institution accompanies the community organizational processes step by step. We guide to activate each communal council and commune organically. In addition, we articulate with the institutions of each region so that the processes are fully complied with,” she emphasized.
The president of the Foundation for the Development and Promotion of Communal Power added that more than 70 % of the communal councils of the country renewed their spokespersons with outstanding participation. “Since last year, the communal councils of the whole nation have been activated. We have held 200 weekly elections. We have reached 500 to 600 in one week to update the spokespersons. It translates into an extraordinary activation of the Venezuelan popular power”, he added.
In the same way, he explained that Fundacomunal initiated a process of formation of the popular power to produce, with a real link with the territory, that is to say, with the task of taking care of mother earth.
“We must become aware of not reproducing the capitalist logic that destroys nature. We must look beyond the economic character and return to the spirit. It’s a cultural change of direction. Develop solidarity. The commune is a space where we must reproduce living conditions. The commune is linked to the territory to take care of Mother Earth, to take care of what I have, to take care of where I live, to take care of where I walk, to take care of where I breathe. That is why the commune has an intrinsic territorial character”, he declared.
