UBV celebrates 20 years of training and connection with the People’s Power

Caracas, July 25, 2023 (Press Mincomunas)- During the conversation “The Bolivarian University of Venezuela and People’s Power,” the Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza, asserted this Wednesday that this house of studies connects directly with the people in the territory through community projects and the different training programs that keep emerging.

In the framework of the 20th anniversary of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV), the Minister recalled the origins of this university and what it represented for Commander Hugo Chavez and the Venezuelan people. “It is interesting to evaluate and systematize the contribution, the impact that community projects have had in the communities where they developed.”

He pointed out the necessity for the UBV to promote the participation of the people in the citizens’ assemblies to strengthen the decision-making process. “We should create a National Training Program (PNF) in articulation with the Bolivarian University, the University of the Communes, and the Sucre Mission, which would enable the Communal Councils’ and Committees’ spokespersons to have the necessary technical and political training to be able to land the educational policies in the territory. We must establish a training space in the Communes. We must reinvent ourselves in this moment of rebirth, in this new transition stage to socialism”.

He suggested that each community project carried out by the Bolivarian University must generate a policy in the communal territory, an impact, and a transformation, which feeds the Communal government. Likewise, it is necessary to advance in technical training so that the people can efficiently manage the means of production, the processing plants, and the lands for planting so their work could create a surplus that benefits the family and the community where they live”.

On the other hand, Eglee Aponte, responsible for the People to People Plan, stated that despite being a challenge from being an organizational entity to a government instance. They must join the organization processes and create Communal Councils and Communes.

“In the Coche parish, the People to People Plan is working with peasant families, who without the need of intermediaries are contributing monthly with vegetable crops to benefit communities, children, and schools directly.”

To conclude the activity, the Minister of People’s Power for University Education and rector of the UBV, Sandra Oblitas, added that this university has a high commitment to the Revolution and is a milestone in the university educational transformation, which seeks inclusion and the development of programs that are at the service of the communities.

“We have created an integral political-academic plan, due to the celebration of the university’s 20th anniversary, which seeks to continue contributing to higher education and the construction of the new homeland,” he pointed out.
