Barinas, July 13, 2023 (Sunacoop Press) – The First Experiential Cooperative Experience 2023 took place at the Self-Management Community Cooperative Association Afinco, with the presence of the People’s Power Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Jorge Arreaza. The event was an opportunity to show this entity’s activity and form of organization, focused on products’ production, distribution, and commercialization in a solidarity and exchange modality, to offer lower prices than those of the traditional market.
During his visit, Minister Arreaza toured the facilities of the fair and heard from the protagonists the history and struggle to consolidate these spaces. At the fair, participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand how the Self-Management Community Cooperative Association Afinco works and how it produces, distributes, and markets high-quality products at affordable prices for the people.
After the fair, Minister Arreaza, accompanied by the Vice-Minister of Communal Economy, Hernan Vargas, and the General Director of Sunacoop, Magaly Newton, went to the Mamá Pancha farm. There, they observed processes such as coffee grinding and the production of panelas, which highlighted the commitment of the Self-Management Community Cooperative Association Afinco to offer high-quality and sustainable products.
The First Cooperative Living Experience 2023 also included a discussion led by the president of Self-Management Community Cooperative Association Afinco R.L. It was an opportunity to discuss the experiences and perspectives of cooperatives in Venezuela and the role they play in building a fairer and more sustainable economy.
